Buona Sera
By
Louis Prima
Performed by Solpig
Buona
sera, signorina, buona sera
It is time to say goodnight to Napoli
Though it's hard for us to whisper, buona sera
With that old moon above the Mediterranean sea
In the mornin' signorina we'll go walkin'
When the mountains help the sun come into sight
And by the little jewelry shop we'll stop and linger
While I buy a wedding ring for your finger
In the meantime let me tell you that I love you
Buona sera, signorina kiss me goodnight
Buona sera, signorina kiss me goodnight
(scat) repeat 1st verse repeat chorus
I was introduced to Louis Prima about a decade ago, when a friend said some of my stuff sounded like his.
Louis put this song to good use, as he "lingered" around at least 4 jewelery shops.
Although primarily known for jazz and swing, he was really the king of 'camp' as he relied heavily on comedy and personality, better musicians than himself, and a beautiful wife as his 'front'. He sung like a chainsaw thru a harmonizer, promoted spontaneity and frowned on 'take 2'.
I have accidentally mirrored his life (minus the 4 marriages and the commercial success).Check out Louis.
