Fast Car
Dreams
Performed by Hazelglow
(aka Michael Flanagan)
An amalgam of Tracey Chapman's "Fast Car" and Gabrielle's "Dreams"
Dreams can come true, look at me baby, I'm with you
You know you've got to hold on
You know you've got to be strong
You've got a fast car
I've got a ticket to anywhere
Maybe we make a deal
Maybe together we can get somewhere
Any place is better
Starting from zero, got nothing to lose
And you say dreams can come true, look
at me baby, I'm with you
You know you've got to hold on
You know you've got to be strong
You see my old man's got a problem
He lives with the bottle, that's the way it is
His body's too old for working
His body's too young to look like his
My mama went off and left him
And I quit school, that's what I did
And you say dreams can come true, look
at me baby, I'm with you
You know you've got to hold on
You know you've got to be strong
You know you've got to hold on,
You know you've got to be strong
You've got a fast car
Is it fast enough so we can fly away?
We've gotta make a decision
Leave tonight or live and die this way
And you say dreams can come true, look
at me baby, I'm with you
You know you've got to hold on
You know you've got to be strong
You know you've got to hold on,
You know you've got to be strong
You know you've got to hold on,
You know you've got to be strong
Be strong...
Leave tonight, or live and die this way
Oh, two songs for the price of one...
Hi everyone, so I haven't been around the forum for a while, and I just discovered this contest (sorry, showcase…) with just a few hours left! So I've been barrelling away this morning, knocking up a recording of one of my favourite covers. Well actually it's two covers; an amalgam of Tracey Chapman's "Fast Car" and Gabrielle's "Dreams". I can't take credit for the idea of combining those two songs into one, I heard another artist do it once. It's a simple arrangement done in rather a hurry so I could meet the deadline; so 'tis just just me playing two acoustic guitar tracks and singing. And a touch of vocal harmony here and there. Hope it meets the standard required…
